Make-up – Work from home edition

Working from home since the pandemic, I figured that I could hide for a few weeks and work in my pyjamas if I feel like it: no need to blow dry my hair or even wearing makeup if no one sees me.

After a few days, I had to admit that I needed to dress and look presentable as my productivity was seriously impacted by my lack of effort and my managers loved to ask us to put the camera on.

As silly as it may sounds, looking professional helps me to be more professional. I dress as I would for the office everyday despite working from home for the last three years and continue to put my camera on at each call I have, internal or with my clients.

Putting on make-up is the part of my morning routine I enjoy the most. It remains simple but helps me to feel pretty for myself and presentable for the people having to stare at me on a daily basis.

You will find below my current everyday makeup products and my feelings about them:

  • Fenty Beauty – PRO FILT’R Soft Matte Longwear Foundation

I believe it might be good foundation for oily skin. Unfortunately it doesn’t give a great effect on my combinaison skin as it merges to my dry patches by the end of the day. Good enough to finish the bottle but I will not purchase it again.

  • Kiko Holiday Gems Precious Matte Powder

I actually use this powder as a subtle bronzer on a recommandation from my sister-in-law and I absolutely love it. I might give it a try as an actual powder in a shade closer to my skin color.

  • 17. Ultimate Look Finishing Powder

I bought it quickly just before a trip to my in-laws as I realized once I left home that I forgot my powder and I have to admit that it was a lovely surprised. It does a great good at setting your fondation, all of that for a really low price (£3.00 at Boots).

  • Morphe – All A Blur Pore-perfecting Blur Stick

What a disappointement… It doesn’t blur anything and I have wasted my money

  • Benefit Ka-Brow

An old time favorite to fill my eye-brow. It is an old time classic that I have never stopped to love.

  • 3ina The 24 hours Pen Eyeliner 900

What a great discover, a present from my friend Myriam. I can’t believe how great it is, but it beat the eyeliner I have been buying religiously for the last 12 years. A full review will be coming soon

  • L’Oréal Volume Million Lashes Mascara

Again a great discovery! Absolutely amazing for my lashes: they are longers, fuller, separated and doesn’t create clumps.

As you can see above, I try to keep my make-up simple as I have busy mornings but is emough to be be “put together” for work and not too much for a work setting. Keep in mind that you want to look fresh, you are not going to the nightclub.

I hope you enjoyed this article and let me know in the comments which are your go-to products for work days!
