Ever since I have read “Ultra-Processed People” by Dr. Chris Van Tullen, my thoughts on food have taken a turn. Today, I won’t provide you a book review, but rather, let’s talk about how this read has changed my view on my cooking routine.

I have always been all about cooking from scratch – it’s more pleasant, cheaper, and I have control over what goes into my meals. Sure, I used to indulge in some processed treats here and there, like biscuits or a soda. But that book got me thinking: traditional diets are always the best option. I’ve spent years hopping on and off diets, thinking I was doing myself a favor with sucralose, Diet Coke, and butter substitutes for fewer calories. Turns out, I was wrong. This month, I ditched the substitutes, embraced real butter, tossed some sugar into my coffee, and treated myself to dessert practically every day. And guess what? I lost weight.. Goes to show, sometimes the whole ‘traditional is better’ thing has some truth to it.
